Online Volunteer Training

The Tarrant County Medical Reserve Corps offers both classroom and online training opportunities that are tailored to meet the specific training needs of MRC volunteers and individuals who are directly involved in disaster response. All of our online courses are free and open to the public. Some courses offer free continuing education credits (CEUs); for more information on CEUs click on the “more information” link for each course.

This site keeps track of the courses in which you are registered and where you are in each course. As you read and complete activities, you will be immersed in the topics presented. You can even take a break and when you return, the course will let you know where you left off. 

Begin as soon as you register and log in, spending as much or as little time as you need for each lesson.

Minimum Training Standards

All MRC volunteers, regardless of division, are required to complete the following courses:

• Tarrant County Point of Dispensing Training Click here
• IS-22 Personal Preparedness (Contact FEMA at (800) 480-2520 to request course materials)
• IS-100b Introduction to Incident Command Click here
• IS-700a National Incident Management System Click here

Optional training opportunities, many offering free continuing education units are offered throughout the year.  Disaster exercises and drills are also conducted to provide volunteers the opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience by working alongside local emergency management officials and first responders in a simulated response to a large-scale public health emergency. Additional specialized training may be required depending on the volunteer’s role with the MRC.
